TEACHING: Here are conflict resolution guidelines for both individuals and groups, both short-form and long-form, followed by relevant wisdom from the Scriptures.

Establish what was actually done and said, then what was meant

Most important thing to each person about each incident

Avoid accusations and assumptions

Keep looking for points of agreement to build on

End by agreeing on the next thing we will do together

Conflict resolution Scriptures

Heb. 12:14-15. Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy…See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

James 1:19. You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.

Prov. 15:1. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Titus 3:2. Be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men.

1 Cor. 4:5. Do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men’s hearts.

James 4:16. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed.

Col. 3:13. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

James 3:17-18. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
