BELIZE JOURNAL PT.2 on pathway to victory. Below is a condensed summary of the values that Belize evangelical leaders have shared with me. We agree they are essential for achieving our vision: to bring the Body of Christ together for maximum impact of the Kingdom of God in Belize. They follow the acronym PATHWAY.
Prayer—keeps us humbly dependent on God with whom all things are possible (2 Chron. 7:14).
Appreciation—for one another grows as we fellowship in the Holy Spirit (Php. 2:1-4).
Teamwork—becomes effective as we serve God’s purposes as equals together (1 Cor. 12:4-7).
Harmony—strengthens us as we let God weave together our commitments to Him, family, church, work, nation and world (Eph. 4:15-16).
Wise warfare—succeeds as we coordinate together what God has given to each of us (Pr. 24:6).
Active faith—overcomes the world as we keep faithful to our words before God (James 5:12; 2:22).
Youth ownership—arises as the next generation builds on these values (Ps. 78:2-7).
Each value in this PATHWAY to victory is linked. In Prayer all things are possible with God. The more we humble ourselves and pray together, the more God heals the land. When we pray for each other instead of speak against each other, we develop Appreciation for them instead of denigration. We see each other in the Spirit instead of the flesh. We see Christ in each other instead of projecting our past on others. We realize we are all members of His Body and not enemies.
Body parts can function only with Teamwork. Teams work better when they have grown to appreciate one another. There is even teamwork in the Trinity which is reflected in the Body. As in Cor. 12:4-7,25:
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord [the Son]. There are different kinds of working, but the same God [the Father] works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good… there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for one another.”
There should be no division. But there should be diversity. Diversity in unity produces Harmony. We not only have “different kind of gifts” but “different kinds of service.” Each of us serves God, our family, our church, our job, our nation, and to different extents our world. These different commitments can compete if we see them as separate. But God the Father “works all of them in all men for the common good.” We need to bring our families and our churches on the same team. Together we will have greater impact on our jobs, on the nation and the world.
Only in Christ can this work. “From Him the whole body, held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work” (Eph. 4:16). The Head will communicate the wisdom needed for each working part of His body. That’s an unbeatable combination. Wise warfare together in Christ defeats any enemy. No matter how great the giant, the Body of Christ is far greater.
All the parts need is Active faith. “This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith” (1 Jn. 5:4). Faith works. When we are faithful to the Lord and faithful to our words, everything we say and do counts as the Lord’s word and the Lord’s work. When the next generation sees these values are really working, they will build on our work. And with Youth ownership we will achieve our vision, generation after generation, till Christ is manifest on earth in His fullness (Eph. 4:11-13).
DailyInsight. Seek unity before victory. Victory won for a divided people will soon be lost in the division (see 2 Sam. 19-20).
