BELIZE JOURNAL PT. 2 on LGBT claims. On June 23, gay US Ambassador Carlos Moreno raised the LGBT flag over the US Embassy in Belize. There the UNIBAM sodomy lawsuit attorney Lisa Shoman claimed victory for the LGBT cause. How could she do so, having never said a word in the 2013 court case and relying on foreign lawyers to argue for sodomy? What victory does Attorney Shoman claim? “We feel as though we’ve already won,” she said, “because we are getting people to listen and to notice.”
Their victory is publicity. That is how a few advocates gain ground for LGBT claims even when the vast majority of Belizeans dislike their agenda. The more space the media gives to LGBTs, the more they carve out a public niche. The more they propagate their deceptions about gaining rights they already have, the more the public tends to give in to LGBT claims and demands. The more they infiltrate public events with gay flags and emblems, the more the public gets used to them. The more they are accepted as normal, the better they will feel about pushing their agenda and behavior on both adults and susceptible children.
Do we want them to feel better about behavior which prevents them from entering the kingdom of God? “Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders not thieves nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Cor. 6:9-10). Do we want people to feel better about adultery, thieving and swindling? Should we endorse marches for adultery? Should we salute thieves’ pride flags? Should we offer courses for sensitivity toward swindlers? The catalog of sins in Romans 1 ends with calling such evils good. “Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do such things but also approve of those who practice them.”
That is the extreme of iniquity that LGBT claims as victory. That is the public recognition that we must continue to deny them. Besides UNIBAM, a number of other small LGBT groups in Belize are clamoring for attention. I refuse to name them and give them the publicity they want. They are promoting a gay calendar which not only includes June as LGBT month (which gay Ambassador Carlos Moreno honored when he raised the LGBT flag over the US Embassy in Belize). It includes a special day or week for LGBTs to celebrate almost every month. Just a few examples are “Bisexual Awareness Week,” “Transgender Awareness Week” and “National Coming Out Week.” I refuse to reveal or acknowledge the dates. It’s better to cover over the multitude of sins that they promote. And pray for the multitude of diseases that they contract to be healed.
Do I want homosexuals to stay in the closet? No. I want to say instead, “Come out and be healed!” And Jesus will heal anyone of anything if they just let Him be their Lord. It may be a long process, but so it is for many Christians who have gotten free from various sins. Yet if homosexuals refuse to come out and be healed, they should not come out with special rights to spread sin and disease. We don’t grant special rights to any other class of sinners or disease-carriers.
Pray that the Chief Justice won’t legalize sodomy. Because if he does, they will say, now that it’s legal, we can promote it. And it won’t long before they claim special rights to hold marches, wave flags, take over media, counsel families, and train children in their ways—and to deny those rights to Christians.
PRAY WITH US. Father God, You reign over the heavens and the earth. The devil reigns only over darkness, sin and torment. He wants to us to open the door to sodomy and let more of his darkness, sin and torment in. But when You close a door, no one can open it. Close that door for Belize. Release conviction and the fear of God on the Chief Justice whenever he begins to think about legalizing sodomy. Show Him You are judge, and that You will judge him severely if he does.
Close that door, and open the door of heaven over Belize. Pour out great grace for homosexuals to change and become champions for Your kingdom. Instead of publicity for the devil’s ways, release great testimonies of deliverance from evil that will provoke others to change. Show that the real good news is the gospel. And empower our nationwide gospel campaign to overcome all of the enemy’s plans for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
