50-DAY FAST from destructive criticism on waging spiritual warfare. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments, and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Cor. 10:3-5).
The previous teaching (click here) shows how to win people instead of win arguments. But once we’ve done all we can to win people, we should seek to win the argument too. Especially if it’s the devil’s argument, “that sets itself up against the knowledge of God.”
The devil’s arguments take people captive to do his will. He uses his captives to build and defend his strongholds, which are arguments against God. So don’t demolish the captives. Demolish the arguments so you can set the captives free.
The captives may not stay free for very long if they keep the same worldly thoughts. The devil will use those thoughts to build more arguments against God. We must “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” When their thoughts become obedient to Christ, the human captives find freedom.
Let’s face it. The mind is a battlefield between Christ and the devil. When we think His higher thoughts, we take His higher ground and we overcome the world. But when we think worldly thoughts, we conform to the pattern of the world, and we head down the broad way to destruction.
PRAYER. Father God, You are the Lord of heavenly hosts. Help us see the real battle we are in, which is not against flesh and blood, but against the demonic spiritual hosts. Show us how to tear their kingdom down while we build your kingdom up. Teach us the truths that set their captives free and make them warriors for Christ. To Him be the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. In Jesus’ name, amen.
