PRAYER ALERT on nations rage at capital Jerusalem. The nations rage at US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. In fact, the Palestinian leadership called for “three days of rage” and got them. Palestinian protesters faced off against Israeli soldiers in at least 30 flashpoints in Jerusalem, in the West Bank, and at the Israel-Gaza border. Where their rage threatened to break out into riots, they met with Israeli tear gas and rubber bullets. Two Palestinians were killed.
Palestinians in Gaza—which the terrorist group Hamas controls—expressed their rage by firing rockets into southern Israel. In response, Israeli aircraft struck four military and weapons facilities belonging to Hamas, killing two more Palestinians.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki raged that the US “has withdrawn…from the peace process.” But we look in vain for any peace process from the Palestinians.
Predictably the Arab League and other Muslim leaders around the world declared opposition against the US decision. So did many Western leaders who are otherwise allies of the US.
The United Nations are raging too. Fourteen of the 15 members of the UN Security Council condemned the US decision. The 15th member, the US itself, vetoed the condemnation.
But God must be smiling, indeed laughing. Note below that He will also terrify the terrorists and all who rage against Him.
“Why do the nations rage, and the people plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, ‘Let us burst their bonds and cast away their cords from us.’ He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord hold them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, ‘As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill” (Psalm 2:1-6).
Zion is Jerusalem. God calls it His holy hill. He also calls Israel His land. God says He will restore the fortunes of Jerusalem, and judge all nations who “have divided up My land” (Joel 3:2). Most nations press for a two-state solution which would divide up God’s land. But since Abraham, God has promised the Promised Land to Israel. And 3000 years ago King David made Jerusalem Israel’s capital.
When Jesus returns, He will make to Jerusalem the capital of the whole earth (see Zech. 14:4-9; Isa. 2:2-4).
See how to pray for Israel and the US becoming great in God’s eyes.
