Stop Legalizing Pot—Belize Island Wants to Go it Alone

PRAY WITH US about stop legalizing pot, that God will:

Empower God’s leaders to work together with congregations and allied groups to implement His plans. Bring their words and warnings effectively to all the voters who need to hear them. And show them all His plans to prosper them without the marijuana trade which harms in so many ways.
Not let enemy plans to involve Mexican drug cartels to influence the voters or government in any way. Uphold Belize’s sovereignty against their desire to do backdoor hard drugs with front-door pot facades. And give the small Belize Defence Force angelic backing to resist heavily militarized drug cartel pressures.
Not to let vulnerable teens get drawn into habits of marijuana and then harder drugs. Instead, let the wind of the Holy Spirit blow the pot smoke away, and fill them with His pleasures and desires. And do the same with every other small Caribbean country that big drug cartels are targeting.
For Haiti, stop the spread of gangs to the countryside and villages. Help the loved ones of the 42 killed by gangs in Labodrie to grieve with godly sorrow that brings repentance and leads to Christ. And show such powerful resistance to all gang members that they will also repent and surrender to You.

Three years ago, the churches gained enough signatures to force legalizing pot to a national vote. But some village councillors on Caye Caulker island—where I live and work—found a loophole in the law. Apparently, one community in Belize can hold a referendum and legalize it for that community only. Then Caye Caulker got enough signatures. So it will hold a village vote on Oct. 8—while I’m recovering from urgent surgery in the US.

For three years I’ve collected dozens of articles on the dangers of marijuana, in case someone revives that cause. Including articles on the following topics:

Inhibited head growth of fetuses in smoking pregnant women.
Also inhibited brain development in teens who smoke regularly.
High-THC concentration hemp packaged in gummies and other snacks for kids.
Smoking kids more likely to develop anxiety and depression and suicidal thinking,
And to suffer arrested development of key bodily functions, causing lung damage and heart disease…

And the list goes on and on. Adults and entire states face dangers too. But how do we communicate all these dangers to the voters? Where we have God’s will, we have God’s way….
