PRAY WITH US about when nations clash. Father God, we exalt Your Son Jesus as the desire of the nations. Because deep down we all desire His love and justice. And He showed us how to love even our enemies. By His wisdom and power He turned many enemies into friends. So we pray You do the same for the nations today. For nations become neighbors when they come into significant contact with one another. And communications has quickly made many strangers into neighbors today.
So we thank You for recent breakthroughs in making peace between warring enemy nations. That includes Russia & Ukraine and India & Pakistan. Even Gaza has welcomed Trump’s peacemaking trip by releasing an Israeli-American hostage. But we ask for much more, that You show Yourself faithful to complete these good works You have begun. And that you turn trade wars and trade disparities into good trade deals too. We want to see You get the glory as You reveal Yourself as the main mover behind these events. May all these works open the nations to the saving work of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, amen.
PRAYER ALERT: When Nations Clash—Loving Your Neighbor Nations
We can thank God for moving the US to serve as peacemaker now for both trade wars and military wars. Just this past weekend, the US made huge advances in peace talks of ceasefires between India & Pakistan, Russia & Ukraine. Also, the US got the last remaining Israeli-American hostage back from Gaza. And signed breakthrough trade deals with China and the UK. Trump makes for an example of a world leader who seeks good even for offending nations like Gaza, by offering plans to help Israel rebuild it.
Most of the above nations in conflict are close neighbors. But the US is acting as a good neighbor to nations far away. Who do you call your neighbor? Jesus taught it was anyone you have significant contact with. For the Israel of His time that meant the hated neighboring Samaritans. For the Israel of today it means Gaza, all Arab nations, and all nations either praising or maligning Israel. And for the US that means not only Mexico and Canada, but really anyone we talk trade or peace with. So that means the great majority of nations on the earth…
