PRAY WITH US about US-China cold war takes shape, that God will:

Take authority as King of kings and Lord of lords in the countries of Latin America. Show the nations how to depend on Him and not on superpowers. And bring them out of the poverty which the pandemic has exacerbated.
Come against any Antichrist tyrannical trends in the Christian-majority nations of Latin America. Expose the self-serving agendas behind autocrats’ seemingly beneficial platforms. And foster freedoms of religion and assembly for worship as opposed to overly restrictive Covid mandates.
Equip and empower the body of Christ to become the main influence in China and Latin America. Give the church wisdom to advise nations of God’s plans to prosper and not harm them. And raise up leaders who will do His will, His way, with democratic majorities behind them.

PRAYER ALERT: US-China Cold War Takes Shape in Central America

A cold war is growing between the US and China over their influences in Latin America. The US has long supported democracies in China’s backyard, such as Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. Now China is supporting tyrannies like Nicaragua and El Salvador in the US’ backyard.

China has persuaded Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama to stop recognizing Taiwan. And so these nations are partnering more with China and less with the US.

For example, China rewarded Nicaragua with aid for housing for “tens of thousands of families.” But China said nothing of Nicaragua’s rigged November elections or its crackdown on protesters. Also, China has donated $500 million to El Salvador for projects like a sports stadium. But it has not objected to the purging of judges and prosecutors critical of El Salvador’s regime.

In Central America so far, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras have resisted China’s advances. They still recognize Taiwan. But has China gained enough global support to invade Taiwan without significant resistance? If so, will China stop there? We must pray that God will arise through China’s oppressed but still-growing church in China. And that tyranny will not prevail in the Christian-majority nations in Latin America.
