PRAY WITH US about AI reads human minds: Father God, we thank You for Your Holy Spirit, who searches all things. Even the deep things of God. You say: “For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? (1 Cor. 2:11) But now men have devised an artificial intelligence which can track and display our thoughts.
So we ask You to set boundaries. Just as You say to the sea, “here your proud waves halt,” say to AI, “here your proud scans halt.” And it must obey. “You alone are our strength and shield. So to You alone let our spirits yield. You alone are our hearts’ desire. And we long to worship You.” Freely and privately. So that Your work in us may be manifest publicly in Your ways. In Jesus’ name, amen.
PRAYER ALERT: AI Reads Human Minds—Can It Be Used to Control Us?
A new AI-powered algorithm produced 1,000 photos from brain activity with 80% accuracy. Including a teddy bear and an airplane.
Using the Stable Diffusion Model (SDM), Osaka University researchers showed four humans the photos. Instantly brain scans fed the AI software. SDM matched the picture with its memory of pictures. Then it generated an image very much like the original.
Elon Musk, co-founder of Open AI which now produces SDMs, is sounding the alarm. Musk denounces Open AI as “a closed source, maximum-profit company effectively controlled by Microsoft. Not what I intended at all.”
Perhaps the world’s top free-speech advocate, Musk is becoming a freedom-of-thought advocate. Or we might call this a privacy-of-thought issue. The more tyrants know about our thoughts, the more they can influence and even control us. Pray that God won’t let them get that far.
