Catholic Priest Activist Killed in Southern Mexico

PRAY WITH US about the Catholic priest activist killed, that God will:

Comfort all the thousands of people mourning the loss of this priest who was advocating for them. Set up invisible angelic barriers around them to resist more drug cartel incursions. And spare them from the violence exchanges between the Sinaloa and Jalisco cartels.
Disarm the cartels of the increasingly powerful weapons they use in their drug wars. Cause members to repent and flee from further gang activity. And lead them to Christ and a life of peace with God and man.
Cause the newly elected government to get serious about resisting and uprooting the cartels. Raise up more peacemakers like Marcelo Perez. And release a long-awaited move of God to cleanse the country of the bloodguilt that drug wars have incurred.
For Haiti, break up the gang coalition that is trying to take even greater control of the capital city. Don’t allow them to gang up on the international police force but rather to flee seven ways. And lead residents back to return to their homes and to find a new life in Christ, for them and their communities.

At his funeral up to 2,000 mourners shouted “Justice for Marcelo” and similar rallying cries. Indigenous Catholic priest Marcelo Perez had worked long and hard for peace in the Chiapas border regions. There the Jalisco and Sinaloa drug cartels have been battling for turf for more than two years. Because it forms a link in the route for smuggling both drugs and migrants.

The two cartels try to force villagers to take sides and have killed whole families who have resisted. Perez had often raised his voice for that resistance and for peace mediation efforts. Hundreds of Chiapas residents have fled to Guatemala for refuge, but he had steadfastly remained…
