PRAY WITH US about Colombia Pres Hopeful, that God will:
- Comfort the assassinated candidate’s family and show his widow how to rely on God’s all-sufficiency. Lead his supporters to find a candidate who has God’s favor and cause that candidate to prevail. And help them fight the good fight against gangster-influenced politics and for God-influenced politics
- Lead children from an early age to refuse evil and choose good. To resist corruption and receive God’s grace to change their nation God’s way. And especially to refuse drugs and violence of any kind and learn how to rely on the the Spirit of God.
- Expose the bitter roots of many violent gangs. Send a wave of repentance to release members from bondage to them. Uproot what remains and execute justice on the main perpetrators so others will take warning.
- For Haiti, disarm the gangs which have dominated the capital and are spreading to the central region. Empower the new interim police director and his force to overcome the gangs. Establish the new government and help it to restore farms and the food chain.
PRAYER ALERT: Colombia Pres Hopeful Dies of Assassin’s Gunshots
At age 5 he lost his kidnapped journalist mother who died during a botched rescue attempt. Then on Aug. 11 at age 39 Miguel Uribe Turbay died of gunshots from a 14-year- old assassin. It happened during a June 7 Bogota rally for his conservative presidential campaign. While being arrested, the boy assassin shouted, “I’m sorry, I did it for the money, for my family.”
For which money? From a drug gang like the Medellin Cartel which kidnapped his mother in 1990? During the 80s and early 90s, that cartel committed 3000+ assassinations including 500+ police officers. So far, Colombian prosecutors have arrested one alleged accomplice and one alleged mastermind. But we have no names for the suspected assassin, accomplice or mastermind.
After the attack, tens of thousands streamed into Bogota streets supporting Uribe and protesting the violence. During the 2022 campaign Uribe got elected senator with more votes than anyone in the Democratic Center party. Then he became one of President Gustavo Petro’s strongest critics…
