PRAY WITH US about Hamas strikes on Israel: Father God, You hold the times and seasons in Your hands. We grieve that Israel did not prepare for this assault. As a result, many have died or suffered greatly, and Israel is in deep distress. But You have rolled back enemy advances before. So arise, O Lord, and let Your enemies be scattered. As Israel advances on Gaza, sound the alarm so that Your enemies may abandon their captives. Preserve the captives from harm and set them free. And guide them not only into safety but salvation. For the day of their true Lord is near.
You did such miracles fifty years ago after a similar attack on Yom Kippur. So show Your strong hand again. Stop foreign aid from abetting the terrorists. Uproot the bitter roots that have gotten embedded in Gaza. Disarm Your enemies and establish Your government there. Let justice be swift so that they may learn Your righteousness. Show them that You deserve to be their Lord. And that You can change the worst of them for the better. For to You be the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. In Jesus’ name, amen.
PRAYER ALERT: Hamas Strikes on Israel Should Have Surprised No One
Why the surprise? IDF Minister Gallant threatened in August that Israel “will send Lebanon back to the Stone Age” in case of armed conflict. And Hezbollah’s secretary general Hassan Nasrallah replied, “You too will be returned back to the Stone Age.”
Instead, this should surprise us: neither the media nor even Gallant’s own defense forces really took those threats seriously. At that time in August, I wrote on my Facebook pages: “I searched both Chrome and Firefox. But the only major news outlets that carried the story were Newsmax and two Israeli periodicals… Has the world grown callous to threats of extinction at a time when Israel is so vulnerable? Now it’s embroiled in civil strife over judicial reform. And a large segment of Israel’s reserve military is boycotting due to the controversy. Also, Nasrallah stressed Israel’s weakness in his threat: ‘Israel, once a formidable regional power, has gradually eroded in faith, consciousness, self-assurance, and humility, ultimately leading to the crisis it’s currently undergoing… It is undoubtedly its worst day in the Zionist entity’s history’”…
