War Escalation Drives Global Inflation

PRAY WITH US about war escalation drives global inflation: Father God, You are the One who “makes wars to cease to the ends of the earth” (Ps. 46:9). But Putin threatens to escalate this war to the UK if he doesn’t have his way. And others fear this war could reach to the ends of the earth. So we call on the power of the Prince of Peace to quell this war. And to command all the involved nations to “Cease striving, and know that I am God” (Ps. 46:10).

Bless the peacemakers who are working to come to a just settlement. Rebuke the warmakers who only want to profit off this war. And heal the wounds and bless those who mourn the deaths and the damage done. Especially heal the wonnds of the innocent, and help to relocate the refugees. Finally, set the course for establishing right relationships between Russia and its neighbors. For You “determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation” (Acts 17:26). In Jesus’ name, amen.

In April alone we saw a global rise of 8.3% in the Consumer Price Index. Specifically in Belize, inflation increased 5.8% in April. But overall it will rise another 2.5% if crude oil prices double, says UBS Chief Economist Paul Donovan.

He attributes the rise to pent-up post-pandemic demand and the Ukraine war. Instead of fading, the war appears to be escalating with Russian victories in the east and south. In retaliation, Ukraine is gaining more weapons from its allies that can strike deeper into Russia.

But Russia is mounting new offensives and considering another attack on Kiev. And it is threatening its NATO neighbors Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. In fact, Russia is developing a “Satan-2” tactical nuclear warhead that could strike as far as the UK.

We see in Revelation 6:2 that the Antichrist “went out conquering and to conquer.” But he does so at first by making peace treaties with an empty bow, only threatening war (Dan. 9:27). World war doesn’t erupt till second seal breaks and “take(s) peace from the earth (Rev. 6:3-4).
