PRAY WITH US about drug plane defendants mum: Father God, thank You for the grace and truth that comes through Jesus Christ. Because without Him, we live in disgrace and lies. And we cannot find the truth unless someone tells it. Also we thank You for the Holy Spirit who leads us into all truth. He searches the deep things, even the deep things of God.
So we ask for the necessary truths to emerge. Convict those who are keeping silent or lying about crimes. Convict those who are colluding with drug traffickers. And to the extent they repent, give them grace and restoration. But bring those who refuse to repent to justice. Do not allow either criminals or law enforcers or prosecutors or defenders to abuse the law. Show justice in all these cases, so that Belize and other nations may learn righteousness. And make righteousness and truth the foundations of Your throne in Belize. In Jesus’ name, amen.
PRAYER ALERT: Drug Plane Defendants Mum, Police Corporal Charged
The fourth drug plane landing in Belize this month happened Sunday in the Mountain Pine Ridge area. The Joint Intelligence Operations Centre (JIOC) sent response teams too late to catch one escaping vehicle. But they stopped another, and arrested four men. One was working as a police corporal with the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in Belize City.
The same DPP saw one of its bodyguards get implicated in the Nov. 5 drug plane landing in Bladen. Cheryl-Lynn Vidal runs the DPP and is the estranged wife of Assistant Police Commissioner Marco Vidal. Marco Vidal runs the Commander Operations Special Team (COST), which saw several of its officers arrested, and one of its vehicles implicated, in the same Nov. 5 drug plane landing. Thus Commissioner of Police Chester Williams recommended Marco Vidal be suspended pending a hearing.
Attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley is defending persons previously accused by police officers who themselves are now accused of narco-trafficking, instead of prosecuting them. As a result, none of his defendants are talking and the cases lack adequate testimony.
We must pray that drug-related corruption be rooted out at all levels. That includes the law enforcers, the prosecutors and even the defense lawyers.
