Mexican beaches becoming drug battlefieldsPRAY WITH US about Mexican beaches becoming drug battlefields, that God will:

  1. Turn back the tide of the drug war that has now reached to public beaches. Show that You are Lord of the heavens and the earth and the seas. And stop the drug lords from acting as if they are lords.
  2. Pour out waves of revival on beach resorts for tourists so they will crave You and not drugs. Pour Your Holy Spirit on cartel members so they will depend on You and not drug money. And let the name of Jesus be lifted up on tourist towns so that Your enemies will flee.
  3. Change the hearts of Mexican authorities so they will know and fear You instead of drug lords. Reform the power structure to prosecute instead of accommodate crime. And raise up leaders who will rule out of Your authority and not out of compromise. In Jesus’ name, amen.

PRAYER ALERT: Mexican Beaches Becoming Drug Battlefields?

As festivals and parties increase on Mexico’s Riviera Maya for tourists, so does the drug business. This 80-mile stretch from Cancun to Tulum draws 20 million tourists per year with their appetites for drugs. Hoteliers face the choice of either allowing onsite drug sales, paying protection money, or closing down.

But the drug business also ultimately draws drug hitmen. Ten drug gangs are fighting to control the drug and extortion market in Tulum alone. In Tulum on Oct. 20, two tourists were killed in the crossfire of a drug-related shootout. So on Nov. 14, President Lopez Obrador deployed 1,500 National Guardsmen to the coastal strip. They roam beaches and streets with assault rifles and bulletproof vests amid scantily-clad sunbathers.

But that did not prevent five attackers on jet skis from coming up to a Cancun beach and opening fire. Witness Kerry Arms said, “There was a delayed reaction for about maybe five seconds, then everybody started scrambling and screaming and crying, and running.” No one was killed, and authorities found the jet skis abandoned a mile away.

International crime expert Robert Almonte says the National Guard won’t stop the violent rivalries. “They are not going to let…national guardsmen deter them from executing their hit… And they’re not careful when they do that. So they’re spraying bullets and the result of that is innocent bystanders, tourists are killed.’
