Brazil’s New Regime Fires Army Chief, Censors 10 Opponents

PRAY WITH US about Brazil’s new regime, that God will:

  1. As soon as possible make clear the true vote count, to assure Brazilians that they have a true democracy. And expose and bring to justice any who falsified vote counts. So that others around the world who think they might get away with fraud will take warning.
  2. Stop those who seek to destroy more property and move them to defend their rights before they lose them. Restore those who have been unjustly banned or imprisoned. And continue the mass movement for family values and Christian moral standards no matter what.
  3. Shut the mouths of those who seek to shut down freedom of speech. And move those who have God’s solutions to this crisis to speak out, be heard, and prevail.

PRAYER ALERT: Brazil’s New Regime Fires Army Chief, Censors 10 Opponents

Twelve weeks after a still-disputed election, new president of Brazil Lula da Silva fired his army chief. Even though Gen. Julio Cesar de Arruda had not heeded calls to forcibly suspend the transfer of power.

Across the country, tens of thousands of protesters have demanded reviews of election malfeasance. Some extremists went so far as to smash windows, spray fire extinguishers & hoses, and trash artworks. But Bolsonaro castigated such destruction of government buildings. Though he refused to concede defeat, he left Brazil for Florida, refusing to take part in the protests.

So the anti-Bolsonaro Supreme-Court Justice Alejandre de Moraes censored ten pro-Bolsonaro congressmen instead. And some of them had the highest vote totals in the general elections. He banned them from all social media. However, the platforms said that the ten had violated no rules. Still, the judge forced the platforms to ban them “within two hours” or face major fines. In addition, journalists have felt the chilling effect of his oppressive overreach.

No wonder the protests won’t stop. Because the protesters don’t want to be silenced or censored for however long Lula’s regime lasts. Already Lula’s regime is shaping up to become far more totalitarian than most of his supporters bargained for.
