PRAY WITH US about goodbye King Charles: Father God, we exalt You as the once, present and future King. For You ultimately overrule all rulers as the King of kings and Lord of lords. So help us to understand our authorities from Your perspective. You raise them up for a time, establish them for Your purposes, and then bring them down. In the process, You are training us to reign with You during Your Millennial Kingdom.
Therefore help us to understand the times so we can rule in our own spheres of influence rightly. Show us who has proven faithful with a few minas whom You want to take charge of five cities. Help us to test and approve Your will so we can move with You as You move nations. Now King Charles has vowed to “maintain the Laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel.” Hold Him and all of us accountable to the commitments we have made to You. And works it all together for the good of those who love You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
PRAYER ALERT: Goodbye King Charles? Seven of His Realms May Leave
Of 14 Commonwealth realms polled, 6 favor becoming a republic, and 8 favor keeping the monarchy. Such realms preserve the monarchy as symbolic head of state and a check on the state’s power. Of them, Belize is the most evenly split, with 48% for and 43% against the monarchy. However, two days before Charles’ coronation, Belize’s PM John Briceno spoke against the monarchy. Despite the poll, the PM said Belize would “quite likely” become a republic.
We thought the current People’s Constitutional Commission would settle such crucial long-term issues. Does this mean that, after all the PCC’s consultations, the PM would step in and decide issues himself? Surely the 17 governmental members on the 34-member PCC wouldn’t violate his wishes. So while half of the other nations polled favored the monarchy, local politics could turn them against it. The fact that it was conducted by longtime Belize power-player Lord Ashcroft may have influenced the results…
