Mexico Border’s Violent Week—Revenge for Crackdown?

Mexico border's violent week

PRAY WITH US about Mexico border’s violent week, that God will:

  1. Keep strengthening security forces so they may keep prevailing over drug cartels. Seek out and arrest more cartel leaders and other main perpetrators. And cause their henchmen to flee to safety in the arms of the Lord.
  2. Prevent the military and government agents from using the drug seizures corruptly. Stir in them such disgust at drug cartels that they won’t get involved with them. Instead, establish authorities who are wise as serpents but gentle as doves.
  3. Show terrorized innocents deliverance from these evils. Pour out Your Holy Spirit of power, love and a sound mind in wave after wave. And establish Your ovecoming presence in their churches and communities. So that He who is in us will prove greater than he who is in the world.

PRAYER ALERT: Mexico Border’s Violent Week—Revenge for Crackdown?

Widespread drug cartel shootings claimed 11 lives last week in four Mexican states. They included random shots in the border city of Ciudad Juarez, killing a boy and 4 radio station workers.

In California border cities two dozen vehicles were hijacked and set ablaze. In other Mexican states dozens of convenience stores and many more cars went up in flames.

Apparently, the perpetrators aimed these attacks against civilians in order to spread terror. They did not attack the military, which has been prevailing in clashes against drug cartels recently.

In fact, last month Mexican marines captured famous fugitive drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero. And last week the military attempted to capture a Jalisco cartel boss. One analyst said the Jalisco New Generation Cartel set off this wave of terror in revenge. Another held a Sinaloa cartel division responsible for the random Ciudad Juarez killings.

The cartels “want to… send messages that they are still strong,” said Mexico’s defense secretary. “But in reality, there has been progress in eliminating criminal structure.” Still, these cartels can cause great suffering by striking like wounded wild beasts at the innocent. So pray that God will do a great work in disarming these dangerous beasts. And that He will hold lawlessness at bay and release revival fires instead.
