New King, New Prime Minister: How Will UK’s Leaders Impact the World?

PRAY WITH US about new king, new prime minister: Father God, we look to You as Sovereign over all. Many are looking to the new king of England and wondering how much he will exercise his sovereignty. But You turn the hearts of kings as a watercourse. So turn him away from undue influence over the UK and Commonwealth governments. For we acknowledge no sovereign but You.

Give direction to the young Rishi Sunak as he enters the post of prime ministry. Show favor to him whenever he favors Israel. Also, keep giving him perseverance against woke policies which have escalated crim in his nation. For we grieve over the many UK children, especially girls, whom groomers have targeted. And extend his concern for them to the Commonwealth countries. Rich foreign groomers are targeting our children, and we need more advocates. So turn him increasingly to Christ, for the kingdom of God belongs to such children as these.

Commonwealth countries like Belize who are re-evaluating relations with the UK now face new leaders. King Charles III became a politically active prince, and many fear he will overstep his bounds as king. But Charles he has promised as king to follow the noninterventionist policy of his mother.

British Commonwealth countries hope he holds true to that promise. Because if he tries to impose his favorite leftist causes such as climate policy, he will give them more reason to shrug off his monarchy altogether, and become independent republics.

So far we see better things from new PM Rishi Sunak, 42, a former hedge fund boss. Sunak faces daunting challenges at home. To fix the UK’s battered economy, many expect him to slash spending. He will likely advocate support for Britons’ energy bills so they can make it through the winter. However, some of his party members object to his “sacking” of pro-Brexit cabinet ministers. Yet in terms of foreign policy, he has shown encouraging anti-woke and pro-Israel signs.

Sunak has called gang grooming of children a “horrific crime” that should result in a life sentence. “We will have a requirement for police forces everywhere to prioritise this.” Most grooming gangs consist of Pakistani Muslim men. Though part Pakistani himself, Sunak will require police to “record the ethnicity of those involved.” We should applaud such courage that we so rarely find in politicians.

Moreover, Sunak shows courage in supporting recognition of Jerusalem as “indisputably” Israel’s capital. And in taking steps against Palestinian terrorist attacks and hate propaganda against Israel. Also, he has strongly opposed boycotts of Israel and the “scourge” of antisemitism in the UK. When we bless those who bless Israel, we too will be blessed.
