Mexico Pre-Election Violence Killed 91 Politicians

Mexico pre-election violence killedPRAY WITH US about Mexico pre-election violence killed: Father God, You pour out Your Holy Spirit without measure. And You say You will pour Your Spirit on all flesh. So let this be the year You pour out Your Spirit on Mexico. We hear much bad news about the increasing terrorist activity of drug cartels, even at US borders. But You bring good news to the afflicted. You know how to set captives free of drug-cartel clutches. Proclaim freedom to those of high rank and low.

But for those who refuse to repent, warn them of Your day of vengeance. For those who do repent, make this a favorable year of the Lord. Raise up those who will uphold liberty and justice for all law-abiders. But deny liberty to those who kill opponents, smuggle drugs and exploit the vulnerable in human trafficking. Comfort the grieving, heal the broken-hearted, and show them how to live by faith in your grace. And not in terror of drug lords. For Jesus is Lord of all lords and King of all kings. In Jesus’ name, amen.

PRAYER ALERT: Mexico Pre-Election Violence Killed 91 Politicians

Since Mexico’s election campaign began in September 2020, 91+ politicians have died by assassination. That includes 36 candidates and aspiring candidates from different parties. As a result, the June 6th election cycle became the second most violent in Mexico’s history since 2000.

According to AP, “Experts say drug gangs want to place sympathetic candidates in town halls and city governments.” Then they can “extort money from local businesses and government budgets.” Sympathetic town halls and governments won’t allow the police to interfere.

But in Guanajuato state, police are arresting Jalisco cartel members. In return, Jalisco is torturing some cops to tell them where to hunt other cops down, in order to kill them. Since 2018, 262+ police have been killed in Guanajuato state alone.

But the Mexican government maintains a “hugs, not guns” laissez-faire policy toward the cartels. Moreover, the June 6 election gave President Lopez Obrador’s party a firmer hold on Congress. Now the president can continue his increasingly socialist economic programs while letting drug gangs terrorize their opponents.
