PRAY WITH US: about wolves wearing sports clothing. Father God, we thank You for sending the Good Shepherd. For we all like sheep have turned astray. And each has turned to his own way. But You have laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Still, many have not yet heard His voice. Many have gone after wolves instead, but remain in sheep’s clothing. Because they don’t know the difference.
So train up Your chosen youth leaders to reach them. When You have equipped them, release them to those fields. Speak through them, so the youths may hear the true Shepherd’s voice. And make those youths disciples and leaders of more youths who have not yet found You. For the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. In Jesus’ name, amen.
PRAYER ALERT: Wolves Wearing Sports Clothing, Stealing our Youth
Young people love sports. And they’ll join up with just about anyone who gives them a ball and a field to play on. But they can become like sheep that wolves prey on. “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves” (Mt. 7:15).
The Ahmadiyya Muslims are not the only religion sponsoring sports in Belize. Rastafarians have gotten involved too. But they are seeking to win souls as well as games. For instance, one fund-rasing handout promoted Haile Selassie as their guide. In fact, many regard this now-deceased emperor of Ethiopia as the Second Coming of Christ.
The handout also promoted “livity”, the energy of their god Jah in all living things. But it didn’t mention marijuana, the Rasta “sacrament”. Yet the palm tree in the handout sure looked like a marijuana plant.
The Rasta and Muslim coaches may have begun as sheep themselves. But the wolf Satan wants to use them to lure boys from the sheepfold into a wolf pack. Among them we must act as wise as serpents, but gentle as doves. Or in other words, wise as wolves, but gentle as sheep. For God can turn wolves into sheep, as He did with the apostle Paul.
Sports fields can become great harvest fields for Christ. But other messiahs are now ruling some of those fields. Yet if we do sports with the heart of the Shepherd, they will hear the Shepherd’s voice. And find out who the true Messiah is.
