PRAY WITH US about notorious pro-LGBT bill, that God will:
· Free the bill’s backers from deception and the trap of the devil (2 Tim. 2:25-26).
· Uphold the equal rights of all to freedom of expression, and to justice when wronged or accused (Prov. 31:8-9).
· Cause our courts to handle all cases with due process, speed and impartiality (Dt. 1:15-18).
· Bring all stakeholders together to fill any gaps in legal protections for the disadvantaged (Ps. 82:2-4).
· Show Himself as our Counsellor, Judge, Redeemer and Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6-7).
· Defeat the evil spirits of the accuser of the brethren and of Jezebel (Rev. 2:22-27; 12:10-11).
· Establish leaders at every level who will do His bidding for the next 5 years and beyond (Prov. 29:2).
PRAYER ALERT: Notorious Pro-LGBT Bill Returns to Harass Belize
After seven months of lying dormant, the radically pro-LGBT “Equal Opportunities” Bill (EOB) suddenly sprang up again on Sept. 9th. It returns in an even more inflated revised form, from 75 pages to 90 pages now. Sources say the National Assembly may vote on it on Sept. 16th, only a week after it resurfaced. In my opinion, this violates not only our Constitution (see below) but our democratic process. How do we have time to read, evaluate and discuss this bill together?
But we can pray. That will bring far more divine impact than anything else we can do. So let’s first review the already-known basics of the EOB. More will come later, after we get advice on the legal implications of the extra 15 pages.
BASICS about EOB:
Contrary to the Constitution, the EOB Commission (unless revised) claims the power to:
—investigate anyone without cause (old EOB #75,79,88 as opposed to Const 9(1)).
—presume that he is guilty (old EOB #121 vs Const 6(3)).
—deny him the right to a lawyer, to a hearing, and to an appeal to a higher court (old EOB #72,79,95,121 as opposed to Const 5(2), 6(2-3), 20(1), 20(4), 95(1), 131(1)).
—deny him the right to know who is accusing him (old EOB #81 vs Const 6(3)).
