Free People Require Morals & Spiritual Values to Stay Free -

PRAY WITH US for free people require morals: Father God, we exalt You as King of kings and Lord of lords. You laid the foundations of the earth. And every family in heaven and on earth derives from You. So provide firm foundations for every nation now seeking to redefine itself. You have a destiny for each one, and a way to achieve that destiny. You want everyone involved in each nation to contribute to that destiny. And ultimately to Your kingdom, in which all will end and begin again.

So show us how to counter lawlessness with Your laws, lovelessness with Your love. To overcome immorality with Your morality and fleshliness with Your spirituality. Give us favor to show that Your ways are better. Do not let flesh just give birth to more flesh. But let Your Spirit give birth to spiritual values which will last. So that each nation will continue to bring glories to Your holy city in the new earth. Until then, in each nation let Your government and Your peace increase and have no end. In Jesus’ name, amen.

PRAYER ALERT: Free People Require Morals & Spiritual Values to Stay Free

In the current push to revise constitutions, many are finding tried and true values worth keeping. For instance, the Preamble to the Belize Constitution has a profound statement that qualifies our freedoms. It says “men and institutions remain free only when freedom is founded upon respect for moral and spiritual values and upon the rule of law.”

Our freedoms operate within the rule of law. The law puts limits on freedom so that individuals can live together in peace. We have freedom of expression, but not freedom to bear false witness. And we’re free to pursue property, but not free to steal someone else’s property.

Like the Preamble says, we “remain free only when freedom is founded upon respect for moral values.” The law can’t force us to love our neighbor, but it can force us to respect our neighbor. Laws enforce respect for moral values of what is right and wrong for everyone.

So respect for moral values means that we do right to others and not wrong to others. And the law should be on our side when we do. But what does respect for spiritual values mean?…
